How We Got Here
Gateway Press began with the vision of Louisville printing salesman C.W.
Georgehead. He, along with his brother-in-law William Keeling, M.D. and two
other partners, joined together in 1950 to form a small printing company in a
4,000 square-foot building. 57 years later Gateway has grown from that
four-man operation into a 170,000 square- foot facility operating 24 hours a
day.
Over the years, Gateway has established a history of steady growth on the
way to annual sales eclipsing $40 million. Along the way we’ve built an
impressive team and pride ourselves on keeping it intact to offer you the best
experience possible. Because of our success, we’ve been able to provide unique
benefits to our employees including a scholarship program and profit-sharing
plan—one of the reasons our people average nearly two decades of service at
Gateway.
While growth is often good, it can sometimes lead companies away from the
foundations upon which they were formed. They may lose the one-on-one connection
with customers imperative for successful long-term partnerships. We are proud to
say that Gateway has held firm to its original roots and is still privately
owned by descendants of the original visionaries that started the company in
1950 plus current and former key managers. The same commitment to quality, dependable service we were founded on
still guides us today.
